New, clean facilities which are very convenient for exploring the East Village
There is no check in desk and I was asked to pay a guy over the phone which was slightly unprofessional. They don't accept AMEX.
It has an interesting location. That's all I can say about it that's positive.
This hotel has no active staff. You register on a iPad when you enter. The iPad didn't work for us so we had to phone an emergency number. A guy showed up and helped us. Very messy operation. There is no elevator in this hotel. You have to lug your luggage up 3 to 5 floors. There is no staff to help you. The rooms are very small and the facilities provided are limited. They claimed free wi-fi, but there was no password available. Check out time is 11AM, which is okay, but they will charge you $25 an hour for any time bast 11AM. I have never heard of a hotel with such a unsympathetic policy. Further, they have no way to hold your luggage so you can't come back and get it several hours later. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The lack of services make it almost impossible to be comfortable. For the price, it's a rip off
This hotel allowed me to have an amazing opportunity to beengaged in the East Village! Ideal for artists and art types wanting to experience the life of an East Villager. r76
The Suite is smaller but very clean and art deco. Those interested must be comfortable being an independent visitor as there was very little "staff" available for questioning. I will be back. r76
Nicely designed rooms with a 'hip' feel to them. Nice little kitchenettes and really well designed bathroom. The reception was as advertised - minimal - but seemed to work well.
The first floor is right over a coffee bar that plays music - from 6:30am to 12:30am every day. Because the hotel has removed all the carpets the music came through the floors very loudly. There is no writing surface in the rooms which made the work I needed to do quite difficult. And it was cold! One heater under the window...bathroom at the other end of the room. Didn't help there was no hot water the last morning either. I did send a really nice email to alert the management to these problems but had no response. Quite irritating....
I loved the kitchen, the shower & the bed was sooo comfortable. Free internet was a wonderful perk!
I wish there was an elevator. Also, the room down the hall from us had a smoke detector that sounded off for about an hour or more on two nights. (4th floor)
very cool location and new, stylish rooms. perfect for young people. great wifi
water pressure in shower could be better
Nice, clean room, great value for the price! And an awesome location. I would definitely come back.
Water pressure was a bit low, no elevator.
The hotel is in a very hip, up and coming area. The hotel has a cool vibe and is tastefully done. Everything is new and super clean. It has modern decor with the an old world wibe (e.g.stainless steel and brick). Hardwood floors, IKEA type furniture and stainless steel fixtures. Mini-kitchenette with all you need for basic cooking. Flat screen tv and free wifi. The corner rooms are the best as far as I can tell as they have a little more room for you luggage and belongings in a hallway area. Very cool cafe on street level. When you stay here, you really feel you are living in a lower eastside apartment. The hotel is great for 1 person staying alone or 2 people who don't mind to be cramped. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great for the price.
The hotel is walk up. No elevator. It is 3 stories I believe. The young lady who checked me in helped me with my bags, but I was on the first floor, so it wasn't too bad. There is street noise, especially on the 1st floor. You can also hear the music slightly from the cafe on the 1st floor and I think it is open until midnight. Rooms are super small (but normal for NYC). Fine for one person, but crowded for 2 people. More than 2 people, impossible. The floor is hardwood so nobody can sleep on the floor. Beds are "queens" but seemed like short full size. I am tall. The beds are comfortable, but are small. There is no staff on site all the time, so if you need immediate help with something, you would have to wait. Not a big deal, unless you really want full service accomodations. When I arrived at the hotel, they did not have the booking that I made online. They had several open rooms, so it was not a problem, but obviously would have been a disaster if they were full. I recommend emailing them directly after booking to confirm.
Soundproofing is nonexistant - adjacent rooms, room above and outdoors all poor. no services. small room for price. NO ELEVATOR. overpriced for what it is.
location was awesome! So was the service when I checked in. Over all, I enjoyed the room. It was clean, everything was provided as advertised and mostly in good order.
It was waaayyy smaller than I expected. It was described as a standard studio, but was more like an efficiency. I did not like the shower. The walls of the shower should have been higher or at least the curtain should reach all the way down to the walls as is because the water got all over the bathroom floor when I took a shower. And the iron was a bit leaky.
Clean, neat and well located hotel Well appointed for a small room Room ´just´ big enough for two
Room is uncomfortable to sit and relax i.e. nowhere to sit e.g. comfy sofa No real reception and therefore no real support A card table, with no printer doesn´t instil confidence - a receipt should be issued when payment received - a printer would appear a mandatory necessity Girls friendly and cooperative but do they know their role??? Often not there and unable to provide any real tourist support e.g. where can I find x, y or z? Very expensive for the size of room, ability to relax and lack of services on offer Error with my payment i.e. I paid cash and money was taken from my credit card - this means I am now A$ 59 AUstralian out of pocket due to the international costs of the transfer!! Would recommend at a lower price i.e. more like a $200 -250 room depending on the season
The East Village Hotel is brand new. The comfort and space (for New York) is great. It's in a pulsing part of New York City. There are a lot of Bars, Restaurants and Stores.
It was a little bit noisy, but that's New York...
Stylish rooms with facilities in good location. Nice staff.
Lack of soap, and decent size mugs in room. And could do with something more in room explaining hotel facilities and good places locally.
I like the key code to enter upon arrival; I like a keycode instead of a key;
I made no demands on staff, so I cannot answer #1; I did not use any services or facilities, in fact I don't know what services or facilities you offer, so I cannot answer #2; you did not mention there was no elevator to my 4th floor room, a definite downside and will keep me from staying with you again; you are too pricey for a 4th floor walkup. "within walking distance of NYU" was a stretch, that's a lot of blocks when you're 67 years old, so I relied on a taxis.
Great location! Loved the view from our room. Ultra-modern, newly opened hotel! Fantastic cafe right there - adjacent to the first floor entry! On the cross-town bus line and has many cabs driving by (easy to flag down). Walking distance to a wonderful park and countless small businesses and restaurants. Don't miss the cheesecake on 11th St @ Veneiros!!!!!
Shower curtain is too short -or the curtain's bar needs to be lowered - to keep the water in the shower area. It required mopping up, no matter how hard we tried to keep the floor dry. Poor cleaning staff, if all rooms are like that!
